Antwerp has built up quite a reputation in the fashion world due to the unbelievable amount of talent that has come out of the city ( Ann Demeulemeester, Dries van Noten, Haider Ackermann, Bernherd Willhelm, Martin Margiela, Raf Simons to name but a few)...

Having said this it still remains pretty understated, and for a weekend away isn't yet competing with cities such as Paris or London.

For this reason I wanted to go check it out! How easy is the eurostar to do this! It was so simple, just a short train-ride away, in which I slept and woke up in a whole new place, very exciting!

We stayed in a little apartment, right in the fashion district, in fact it was so good we had the MOMU (Fashion museum) 2 doors down and the Dries shop on our road, and we were just walking distance to all the shops I had listed in my must-go-to list.

Exhibitions: Peter Lindbergh and the Walter Van Beirendonck exhibition at the MoMu...

The Momu was impressive in the way it curated this exhibition, the mannequins were on rotating circular platforms, in one other room there was a Simon Foxton / Nick Knight photoshoot on a curved wall showcasing Walter's work. In another room there was a film of him going through his sketchbooks explaining where he gets his inspiration from and the way he researches for his designs.

Here is a photo of me outside, the museum is surrounded by quite an industrial environment, you walk along these roads, barely coming across another person, it reminded me of Berlin in this way a bit, the fact that there is quite a lot of open space.

RA:
Ra is a concept clothes store/ curated book shop / bustling restaurant and an art gallery space, comprising of this it acts as a platform of support for directional fashion and emerging artistic talent in Antwerp whilst also selling international brands such as Swash, Fleet Ilya, KTZ, Meadham Kirchhoff, Rodarte, John Rocha, Simone Rocha, Louise Gray, Damir Doma, Henrik Vibskov and an amazing vintage section with Vtg Alaia, Dior, YSL etc. Have a look at their website to learn more..
Something I kinda wished i hadn't found out on the last day was that RA have an outlet shop also, only open Fridays and Saturdays where they sell stock for 80% off!! Unlucky we only found out on the Sunday, but a definite must for those going!!

We went for dinner there on the saturday night, I had pumpkin tagliatelle with hazelnuts, lemon+ chilli sauce with parmesan, it was delish! Carrying on with the food talk, one of the women who works at RA had started a Breakfast club on Sunday mornings at a different venue - In de Roscam, you can read more about it on their blogspot Otark Productions, the idea was to use different countries or regions of food each week, their was amazing 'Georgian' bread from a nearby monastery, really nice idea, especially because you forget that Sundays in cities other than London still operate on the old tradition of a day of rest, so when we stepped outside it felt like a bit of a ghost town at first!

Labels Inc:

The other shop that I was really impressed with was Labels Inc , which sells past season designer, and designer vintage / second hand. In here you could find a pair of Ann Dem boots for €70 and I managed to find a classic long black Dries coat for €90, the reductions were very affordable and they had a lot of stock.

Antique Sunday:

There was an antique market on on the sunday too, I loved these vintage tin toys! And the Antique area is on the same road as RA, Kloosterstraat, there were amazing antiques, but they were a bit pricey, not like finding gems at a car boot or an auction, but great big objects which would be amazing for decorating a house or shop.

Unlike me to write a MAHOOSIVE post , but I could have gone on for longer!
As you can see Antwerp is full of interesting things to do, from exhibitions to shopping to eating waffles and chocolate. It has a lot of creativity coming out of it, I will be interested to see where it is in a few years, as it feels there is a lot more to come!..

_Tim Walker Mongolia:British Vogue/ Mongol:The Rise of Genghis Khan

I came across this shoot of Tim Walker's which really reminded me of what I took out of a film we watched over Christmas called Mongol : The Rise of Genghis Khan. It was the first time I'd seen it, and I was blown away.

I love their native traditional clothing and the way they plait their hair and wear fur hats and fur in their clothes, I loved the colours that surround you within the untouched environment. It really made me want to go to Mongolia, it would be an incredible place to produce a photoshoot.

I've been putting plaits in my hair ever since!

The above items are part of the " Longo" range that James Long has produced in collaboration with ASOS. When I discovered this little collab I was jumping in my seat because I have been an admirer of his work from what I have seen him selling at LN-CC. See these dresses below from his mainline collection.

James long was originally a menswear designer after studying Menswear and Accessories at Royal College of Art. But thankfully for us ladies, He moved into designing equally strong womenswear collections also. His use of knitwear mixed with woven fabrics is immediately recognisable. For me, London hosts and often gives birth to the most inspiring and exciting emerging designers. A prime example of this is Martina Spetlova who is currently drawing much attention even though having finished her MA at St.Martin's less than two years ago! Her designs are sold through the reputable LN-CC store and online website. I first saw her work through Oh Elle, who styles her look books and has used her designs in shoots along side this, Martina is much the stylists dream as her work has been seen in magazines such as i-D, Vogue and Husk. I have been most attracted to these amazing knitwear dresses...

Her use of mis-matched materials and patch-worked leather is captivating even more so because of the array of bright and bold colours. I really think these items are ones to touch, by that I mean that they feel so different to what they look like. The leather is so soft and looks amazing in natural light, fish-skin leather is used, and as with a real live fish, it captures light in its own specific way. The thick knit, like this dress above is so thick, that when worn it gives the body a particular feminine structure. They really are special pieces, every girl should have in her wardrobe, Im so excited for next season, iv got butterflies already! Martina Spetlova really is one to watch!

Yesterday I was working as a dresser backstage at the JW Anderson Show, I had great fun! The collection is beautiful. I loved the leather detailing mixed with delicate silks and satin fabrics, and the tasseled edging. Their are quite a few pieces I could easily fit into my wardrobe! In particular I liked the leather jacket with white leather stitching and candy striped paneling. The patterned shirts with industrial back-pack- like harness straps. Leather is one of my favourite materials, and I liked seeing it manipulated and used in different ways. What did you think of the collection?

I've been meaning to write about Meadham Kirchhoff now since I read an interview with them in the latest LOVE issue (which was weeks ago!), and now I've just read another interview in ES Magazine, I thought it's about time I express my response/

Also, I've neglected this blog for far too long now, with ending my final year of university and moving down to London (no excuses), I can now focus more time on this.

So, anyway, here goes,

When I read the interview in Love Magazine I was pleasently surprised and impressed by the political message and opinions that guide and infuse the designs of Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff. I felt that they came across very well, to me they seemed totally sincere and explicit about their true feelings and views on the world. The openness and dis-regard to conform or be dictated by pre-established ideals within fashion, and especially for fashion designers, ran clear throughout both interviews. I feel as if they have almost invoked a kind of Copernican revolution, explaining the ridiculousness of magazines dictating what we should or shouldn't wear, likewise of what to expect from designers before the models have even walked down the catwalk! The limiting and constraining effect this has is global. But can be active without almost realising, although these two who obviously have a firm grasp on reality and their own minds as thinking beings (not just robots) have overstepped this dictatorial deficit.

What goes hand-in-hand with this is a re-occurring theme within their work, that of women's creativity and self-expression. Although feminism is thought of as an old theme, the way Meadham Kirchhoff detail it is in a new way, that is the current effect that the media, advertisement and technology (amongst other things) has had, which they say "kills the pride that women have established". Therefore, they feel that by presenting collections which embody the idea of self expression unbounded, that we will wear what we want rather than what might flatter us, or of what might be "in fashion" (I hate even writing that phrase!!)

These views, I felt came across in a very sound way, apart from loving their past collections aesthetically, the freedom from constraint and depiction of limitless self expression certainly ignites the same moral in me.

I find that the concepts behind many designers work seem either secondary to their designs (in that they may try to make their work seem more deep or meaningful than it perhaps is) or unecessary. However, Meadham Kirchhoff's political views seem to me to be very inspiring and dynamic.

The interview explained how the duo hardly ever leave their studio, and instead live in an "obsessive seclusion", their creativity bursting from inner feelings (be it anger or upset) which Ed explains as "a total reaction against what is around us in the outside world"

I thought I'd post some photos as a little retrospective before their show on Tuesday, as well as to detail my response to the interviews which had a lasting impression on me.
In the ES Magazine interview Ed explained People will not necessarily like what we do, but we give our entire selves to it. It would totally depress me if our clothes were something that people liked in a mediocre way... Well I most certainly wouldn't describe my love for their clothes in this way, hopefully one day I can afford them!!

I have to say I think this is one of my favourite new labels. I adore the shoes, ALL of them!! And the flowery prints, the mix of different prints within the same outfit, the cropped trousers and the layering. The range of materials is impressive, and although there seems to be a great array of colour the outfits seem harmonious and pleasing to the eye, not harsh but muted and sophisticated.

I absolutely love the shirts in this collection, these two specifically I could quite easily slip into my wardrobe! I love the third outfit best, the maxi skirt with the shirt, it gives you masculinity and feminimity combined, and a touch more character with some spotty gloves if there wasn't enough already!

I got some lovely things in the habitat sale, these bright pink plastic glasses and a blue vase. Iv been wearing this bubblegum pink barry m nail varnish i got for christmas. This is a bit of a pink post although the photos are in black and white so you cant see! The 'madame' perfume is neon pink. Im in love with this cacharel oatmeal jumper i found on ebay, i feel very french in it!! Happy February, so long January....

Kenzo's Nomadic 40th Anniversary

I do realise that this post is a little late, as it's from Paris SS11 Fashion Week, BUT, I thought these clothes were far too great to ignore! Kenzo celebrated 40 years of their existence with the most spectacular finale leading on from the SS11 show. These heavily costumed doll like figures marched out and stood on a huge revolving circular platform. I love their whole look - I find the layered-up, eclectic, prints, nomadic-like outfits so inspiring, timeless, colourful and beautiful. This worldly look has influenced so many designers, from Comme to Westwood, but this catwalk has really made me look at Kenzo in a new light. I wish they'd give us more like this every season! So good!

I have literally just arrived off the plane.Been on holiday for duex weeks, and been looking at shows on style.com on my phone, by the way when are they gna get a blog app for iphone???I really like alot of the Topshop Unique collection, although it reminds me of alot of some other designers all fused into one!I LOVE the sunglasses in the first photo and the general firey colours, and patterns. The bright yellow tassled bag is cute, and the tassled shoes. I like the juxtaposition of strong prints against soft, floaty materials, I'd love lots of this collection in my wardrobe next Summer!Bx

Be it heels or flats, stilettos or wedges, there is the right pair for each specific occasion. I think as a girl Clarks were definitely my favourite shoes,I loved being taken to get some navy blue mary-janes. I think desert boots are a classic and therefore timeless.I recently bought these turquoise platform sandals from Office, and I'm really loving them at the moment.
Although I'm a westwood pirate-boot girl, and love my converse when i'm feeling lazy, I think my all-time favourites are my Dr.Martens. I started off with a pair of black leather boots when i was about 16, i asked my mum to take me to the shop in Covent Garden, that's when I got hooked!But now, i'm in love with the low-top shoes. The story of these shoes are..I went to the factory shop in Northampton, and liked the fact that they were made in England, instead of production being taken to eastern Europe or further. The thing with these shoes is they will last my life-time, if not my childrens. I can wear them with everything, they are a classic.When the craze for Dr.Martens came back recently people were buying them from vintage shops, second-hand. So god only knows what stories they entail!The best thing is they get better with age too, and become molded to the shape of your feet.I'm sure they will hold a lot of memories for me when I reminisce about them in years to come!

I love this shoot! It reminds me of the film Jumanji, where they're up in that crazy attic! I love the mix of b&w and colour and the use of crude strip lighting. The use of animal prints surely makes this highly linked to the film, right? The patterns and textures really stand out when it's monochrome, so bold. The models are Egle Tvirbutaite and Annemarie van Dijk and it's been photographed by Phil Poynter for Vogue Italia. bx

I LOVE this photoshoot by Alasdair McLellan, styled by Beat Bollinger. It took place in New York. My favourite photo is the second of the first set. I love the light, and the white mesh top. It reminds me a bit of the aesthetic Shane meadows went for in his film 'This is England', sort of hard edge, raw, Aggy is quite androgynous in this photo, with her short hair, and tom-boy vibe. Far from the catwalk or high-end fashion shoots.There is nothing feminine about her in this photo, and I think this creates a seductive demur about her. The first photo reminds me a bit of a tramp on a bench, obviously she is far from this, but it makes her look free, in the 'you can be anything' mentality of New York. I'm liking her shaved head, not many girls can pull this off, especially in the first photo of the second set, her hair is harsh whilst her eyes are soft and cloudy. If the summer had been better here in England I would have been longing for it to continue, but in late August I'm sat here wearing high Dr.Martins and thick leggings! I've been in Northampton, so went for a trip to the Dr.Martens Factory Shop, if you've been following this blog for a while then you might remember my post about The Church's Fac Shop. I get so excited when i hear about factory shops, sample sales and general bargain places! Well this was well worth the trip, there was ample to choose from, whilst I left with 2 shoe boxes, trying to be sensible, my other half left with 3! The pricing is ridiculously low, especially seeing as these shoes last you for life pretty much! I got these brother-creeper-esq boots in the second pic, and also a pair of black classic original shoes, the only range that are still made in England. You'll be seeing the black pair in following posts, they have already become a staple piece to my wardrobe!

So thats what I've been doing since my return and on days off from work.Summer sales are all over the shops, but no money in my pocket right now!!Anyone got any bargains they want to share? Iv been wearing this straw hat all summer, its Red Label Vivienne Westwood, and has a red padded lining you can just see in the photo which fits around your head whilst the hat is oversized. I purchased this 'Barry M' pastel blue nail varnish for the Summer, love pastels, and BM is the best for colours, but not the best for chipping five seconds after its applied!!

I have been absolutely miles away for the past month!I have had exams at university, and was so under the cosh that the laptop has had to be hidden for a bit. But now I'm back!

I did this photoshoot in Armley Mills, Leeds. The location was chosen for its industrial decay, the rusty machinery mixed with the textures and colours of the garments. Rory was photographing Grace, and I styled and took photos with a film camera and a Diana. Here are the ones that I took. It was a lovely sunny day,I think the warmth came through. The clothes we used were a mixture of bits and bobs, some vintage,Westwood and Topshop items.It was a fun day and break from work. My photographing skills are not up to scratch, but I enjoy doing it!!

Well haven't The Financial Times come up trumps! I was so impressed by this shoot in the 'How to Spend It Magazine'. The shoot is by Andrew Yee and I think it captures the true essence of an African woman. The colours, prints, patterns, fabric's are all unique and influence so many of the World's fashion houses. Alek Wek looks authentic and the shoot almost looks to be Portraiture. All perfectly styled by Damian Foxe. I think i'll keep half an eye on their editorials now!

I came across this shoot in the new Oyster. I like how spontaneous they look as if taken with a simple point and shoot camera. The casual compositions remind me of Juergen Teller's work, they both work with very natural locations such as the one seen above. I went onto Zoey Grossman's website to find out more about her and the photo below is one that stood out. The Exhibition is 'A Personal Collection' of Vivienne Westwood Shoes, spanning 15 years of a love relationship between the collector and the shoes. There are over 75 pairs!!! So if you are a shoe lover like me, come and feast your eyes on the beauties!! Westwood has been forward thinking in her cloth making, but most definitely in her eccentric shoe design . Her influence on generations of latter designers is evident. From the infamous pirate boot to the elevated white-patent stiletto prostitute...these shoes have their very own character! It was pissing it down with rain today in Leeds, and on the way home I ran into a vintage shop round the corner from my house, always a good option for avoiding the bad weather!! I found this dreamy, sky coloured Westwood shirt, I love the tie that comes with it, I feel very smart wearing it!!The lady said it was her mum's and she'd bought it about 15 years ago, she's looked after it so well, it feels brand new!But with that nice feeling that its had a bit of life, even if its just hung up in a wardrobe unworn!! I DIY-d these old levi's shorts, with an old renaissance technique called slashing.

Found these UH-MAZING wedges by Japanese designer Tsumori Chisato, You might think I'm mad because I like explosions of colour!But I think they are ace!!The bright leather thongs floating down the back remind me of a firework or a peacock with its feathers out!!haha!
There a collaboration between Tsumori Chisato and Gabia Espadrille, I think the two contributers have created a truly unique pair of wedges, a very artistic print which looks radical and liberal in nature with bright colours on a white canvas, the seven-holed lace up is cute and I'm sure it's flattering as it elongates your legs! I have fallen in love with them!! Check them out on Opening Ceremony, they also come in a black colourway.

I went to this glasses & sunglasses shop in Berlin, it was amazing, all the glasses were in these thin drawers and you just opened them all to find all these amazing glasses!!!Such a sick shop!!!haha!! However I didn't get any glasses, i didn't have the budget for them, and also have trouble finding ones that suit my face really well. If you know any good sunglasses shops in London or England let me know!!!I want to start a little collection!Especially now the summer is approaching!!

It was my 21st birthday on Monday, so have been celebrating since, here are a few things i was given. In the first photo is a rug, with a king and queen, Rorys mum made it for me. It is the most amazing thing ever, its so special when somebody puts time,effort and love into making something!The next photo is a clint eastwood coat from the current ss10 Vivienne Westwood Gold Label Collection, I absolutely love this coat, but never thought i would be able to have it, I was in complete shock when i opened it, the pattern and design is as if it was made for me!! The blue collage ring has just appeared in the shops, its the last time we are doing these collage rings, so grab one while you can!!They also come in pink. The socks are from 'Tabio', I hadn't heard of the shop until my friend Sanya gave me these as a prezzie. But I think I'll be shopping there alot more now I've got these as a taste. The last pair of shoes are 'Tracey Trainers' they are from Worlds End, they are ace!!They are so comfortable, and I always have trouble with wearing high heels, so these are the perfect medium. Thanks to everyone for making my 21st so memorable!

_Last Week in Berlin

So here are my holiday picks, Berlin was amazing!I would sincerly recommend it to anyone. We were there for a full seven days (which is long for a city break) and didn't run out of places to go, things to see. (Don't want to start sounding like a holiday rep here!!), but could sing Berlin's praises for an entire opera! The apartment was luxury but in a contemporary way, in fact we were upgraded( not sure why!), it was so nice to go back there and chill after full days of walking and sight-seeing. There are lots of galleries, and museums, we chose to go to the Jewish museum to learn about the historical part of Germany, and also checkpoint charlie. Apart from that, and the holocaust memorial, we mainly stuck to photography galleries,modern art exhibitions and vintage shops!Although there are some really good shops for high-end apparel. The places are very spaced apart in Berlin, not like in London, Paris or Barcelona where its all quite concentrated. Our map by the end was in shreds. The U-Bahn and S-Bahn are very easy to use, getting around in general was a doddle! I would go back again for sure, and have many recommendations for people visiting there in the future, although I think it's one of those places that is continuing to evolve, in a forward-thinking way, so many more exciting places popping up!

He was half of the infamous duo that created 'Let it Rock', 'Too fast to live too young to die', 'Sex', 'Seditionaries' and todays 'Worlds End' at No 430 Kings Road. RIP MR.McLAREN.

So I'm in Berlin now, and although i brought the laptop and camera, i somehow forgot my lead so cannot upload until I am home!! I have been here two days so far and am really enjoying it. Have been to some really nice shops, Apartment, and their Cash vintage shop next door which sells old season and designer vintage, some right treats in there but not for my budget!! Today, after walking along the remaining part of the Berlin Wall we went to Checkpoint Charlie, we then walked to a shop called 'The Corner'. It sells Givenchy, Lanvin, Balmain, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney etc. Really nice shop, open and friendly people working there. Its really sunny here, have heard its the same in London, its amazing what some sun can do!! Its funny because I don't know any german, but keep coming out with french and some spanish because their the languages (besides english) which I'm most familiar with!!haha! Here is some news to follow, but will keep you posted with my holiday news and photos will follow next week!

These are some new things I have been wearing lately. The lace biker jacket I bought from H&M ,they have a £10 off all jackets and blazers ATM. And I had my eye on it so thought get it now while its cheap!!I love the shape of biker-jackets, think I'm beginning to start a collection of them!! The melissa x VW shoes are so comfy, i wear them at work, but haven't been able to wear them out yet due to winter weather creeping back on us. Think I'm going to wear them on my birthday! They are ace because they mean I'm no longer 5'5" for an evening but with no pain!!The dress is KTZ, i like the shoulders on it, and its very flattering with the black lines shaping your torso.The last two are products of my ebay obsession! They are both old Westwood items the skirt from AW2001 'Wild Beauty', and the shirt is from 'Mini Crini' SS1985.

Today it's been 'grim up north' so have taken a shots of the prints on my rail above to brighten up the day!! I wanted to keep them abstract so you cant tell what the item is and just see the pattern itself. I think I have an unhealthy attraction to prints, I think if I was an animal i would be a leopard or something! Maybe a zebra haha! Its interesting to see them all together mixed in a random way. I was going to study art foundation thinking I would move on to textiles, but wanted to move away from London to experience a different side of England. However I think my obsession with material, texture, colour and pattern will never fade. If any of you have had a grim day I hope this brightens yours up too!! I'm selling one of the dresses I used in a shoot for this blog on ebay. Bx

So here I am from start to finish , arriving at the venue, it was so cool- really industrial outside the backstage entrance, and the sun was shining..we all got our passes and went in, first was hair and makeup on your left, and then the adjoining room was for dressing. We had to walk around to find your name written on the Polaroid board. I dressed 'TARA'. It was so amazing being surrounded by all the stunning clothes, shoes, bags, tights, shoes shoes SHOES!!!I really fell in love with everything!! The models were lovely too, and beautiful creatures, theres something about these models that is so obvious that thats what they are meant for. They photograph so well, and when their dressed in their outfits, make the outfit look amazing!The models had two looks, so when the show had started there was such a buzz in the room, music on, the noise of peoples applauds. And as your model comes running off you have to be there ready for the next change!SO much fun!!It was so good to be part of and now, looking at photos online, I was proud to say -i dressed that look!!Although such a small tool in the works, it was amazing to experience. Amazing to see the collection, it was so strong, I really think there's no other design-house like this. I would be so happy to do this again, so looking forward to the next one!

Having made it to our hotel we went out to St.Germain area to go for dinner and drinks. It was so fun to be out in another city. Ashish this season has really gone for the 'dressed-up /casual' idea. The overly luxurious sequined dresses mixed with casual knitwear cardigans,socks and hand-cuffs. I like the rastifarian vibe of hats and sunglasses, long oversized coats and long trousers with dresses over the top.The third photo is a key example whereby the casual shirt is ordained with sequins instead of denim or lumberjack which you would expect. It emphasizes androgyny, instead of girls wearing their boyfriends clothes, its girls wearing there own but with a tomboy sense.This idea is daring but conveys a feeling of confidence. The patterns are bold and with beautiful bright colours! Although sequins are Ashish's usual trick, He manages to use them in fresh ways each collection.

I never told you about it at the time, (due to confidentiality) but about a month ago I went to do the buying of this collection for the Leeds Shop. It was so amazing to be at the show,to see the clothes put together in a new way on the catwalk. To see people wearing them and jumping down the catwalk in them. It really brings them alive. I feel so enthusiastic about selling them to customers now and showing them different combinations that they might not necessarily have put together.Am looking forward to collection arriving in the shop too!But for now I'm content with Spring/Summer too!

After the Show we went backstage, it was nice to talk to people about the show and hear their reactions. It was quite funny really because this guy kept trying to video Kate Moss and Vivienne chatting, but kept getting ask to leave because it wasn't allowed. The hype and liveliness was felt as others packed away the clothes, and models had their back-combed hair taken out. After we jumped in a cab to Bungalow 8, at St.Martins Lane Hotel to the after party...
When I get them, i'll put up some more photos of the after party. We were told at one point that photos inside weren't allowed, I think they like to keep it chilled out in there as the celebrities probs want a break from all the papping that happens outside. I was surprised that Kate and Vivienne and Andreas came to the after party, everyone enjoyed seeing them. The cocktails were gorgeous, this was my second night of free cocktails, so have been pretty worse for wear since then!! It was a really good after party, not too much pretentiousness, I think the atmosphere had carried on from the show. Thanks to the company for giving me such an amazing evening!

_Vivienne Westwood AW10 Catwalk Show

On Sunday Evening I went to the Vivienne Westwood Red Label AW10 Show at the Royal Courts of Justice. It was a really interesting venue as it felt almost Church-like inside, the music began with quite classical magical and fairylike sounds which echoed the ideas behind the collection. The Show went down a storm, with Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson, Tracey Emin and Mario Testino singing Vivienne's praises afterwards. The Collection contained exotic coloured plaids, pinks, fuscias, greens and blues, mixed with russian-doll-esque cardigans and tops. Tweed maxi coats and short double-breasted ones, some gorgeous glittery dresses that shone against the lights. The hats were also I highlight for me, cute little bonets in bright colours and padded flying hats. Although it was colourful it included classic dresses too like the cocktail corseted dress pixie wore. A very strong collection, the styling was lively and daring. The shoes were amazing, unfortunately I was unable to photograph them, but I'm sure you can see them on style.com or catwalking. A unique touch was the Sigg aluminum waterbottles that were given out at the show, sending out an ecological message with 'Act Fast Slow Down' 'Stop Climate Change' written across it.A lovely memoir!

_Cocktail Mania at Lounge Lover

On Saturday night I went to 'Lounge Lover' which is part of 'les trois garcons', Shoreditch. It was a private party which meant we had the place to ourselves,the cocktails there are amazing!As you can tell from how many photos there are of the interior, I loved the venue! It had a perfect mix of old and new things, really interesting drawings on the wall and a wax torso which reminded me of the Welcome Collection, check it out its brill!It was really lovely to see some old friends and be in London with them again. I had a really good night here, and would recommend the venue, especially if you've got a special occasion to celebrate.

This post is about my friend Nick, I lived with her last year in Leeds, but now she is interning in New York at Marc Jacobs. She has been working all hours of the day for weeks running up to the AW10 Show and now She has had time to share with her friends how its been, and here are some photos. The first picture is of a dress of which she designed the bow. The two pictures after it show the detailing and design which is feminine and elegant. Really subtle, and elaborate at the same time. Of all the looks, 'WWD' chose this one to put in their issue about the show!Well Done Nick!The third photo is of another look from the catwalk:Nick designed and sowed the embroidery on this coat and also decided the placement of it, and there's the lady herself hard at work in the fourth photo. She has completely thrown herself into everything whilst being at Marc Jacobs and I'm so proud of her, cant wait till shes back to tell me more about it! I saw this editorial from Japanese Vogue and thought it was worth a mention! I really like the colour ways throughout, the rusty metal petrol pumps even have a pink tone, so complementing the two other shots. I like how hazy the first one is from looking through dirty glass, and rarely have I seen the Jeremy Scott SS10 Flintstones print used in shoots. I guess it's pretty hard to put it with stuff without making the whole shoot prehistoric! Anna Selezneva models and Mark Segal photographs.

I came across these amazing dresses today, they're Christopher Kane and available at Matches. Recently I've had a thing for graphic photo print textiles - these intense images of atomic bombs, along with the surreal dreamy colour palette make these really special. They range from £188 to £838, quite a difference! I'm guessing there'll be lots of factors in that jump, materials, cut, low - high quanties all included. I think Kane gets it right with his choices of femininity mixed with strength (gorilla/crocodile). x

Iv had a really relaxed day today! Just been doing bits and bobs, in these photos I'm wearing an oversized black tee, I made it on the sewing machine as I'm trying to get off the consumerist high-street lifestyle completely. Not that I was on it intensively, but just thought that I'd usually buy something like this from American Apparel, but its so easy to make and cost me in total about £3. This hat was a Christmas prez from my friend Emma, its the same tartan as my uniform this past AW, and reminds me of a flying hat. Ikat is a style of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft before the threads are woven to create a pattern or design. It exists throughout the Eastern world and I just love the patterns and colours that are created with this technique. I guess i like it as it's part ethnic, aztec, tribal. These aspects have never and will never lose their appeal to me. Prints in textile are so important to me, and seeing these ancient dresses and swatches makes me want to start designing patterns myself.

I am in love with this Shoot, everything about it is amazing, would of loved to be a part in making it!Its beautifully styled, the scribbles,drawings,graffiti-esque concept is weaved so well through the clothes and the set. I think it's one of my favourite shoots of all time!! The photographer is Craig McDean, I've only just looked through some of his other shoots on Art + Commerce and really like them all. Credit to the stylist Karl Templer - he hasn't tried to let trends dictate his ideas and concepts behind the shoot. Templer has thoroughly executed this creative idea with a new burst of energy. There is a sense of unity throughout it. It reminded me of these artists below....

The first two drawings are by Cy Twombly and the last by Jean Michel Basquiat. The sense of freedom within their drawing techniques is similar to that in the shoot. AMAZING!!!!!!

Here is a really nice collaboration between photographer SØLVE SUNDSBØ and creative studio SURFACE TO AIR. Its an idea My boyfriend and I had for his photographs, but here it is done really well. I'd love the 'Dry Cleaning Dress', its 100% silk, and looks dreamy!! The bags are really nice too. It is a limited edition so grab it while you can!!The bags are already sold out, so this is a bit of a tease, but some of the clothes are still available. This is old news but rly love it so thought it deserved a mention!!

_Vivienne Westwood MAN Show AW10

Here are a few photos from the Man show. The model in the top left is wearing the LEE collab jeans, and also the model in the bottom right. Featuring apart from that was varying bright colours, Andreas is not shy! The tracksuit is cute, with the bag which I think is Gaia print from the Womens Gold label s/s10. The blue Clint Eastwood coat with a darker lined square cross stitch over is striking. I like the STAR trainers too!! This collection has re-used quite a few old designs, prints and materials. The styling for this show aroused much interest in Milan as it evoked parodies of homelessness, the models were subtly covered in silvery makeup to give the effect of being frozen. In a time where climate change is obviously having an effect, this cold and icy weather this January has proven a disaster for commuters all over England, but incitefully Vivienne and Andreas chose to make people think about how it must be for those on the streets, to put them up on the pedestal of the catwalk. The show ended with Vivienne being wheeled on a hospital bed, quite a daring and spectacular scene!!

Westwood and Lee have collaborated on a range of denim. I've had a sneaky peak at the press release images for it, and i think it'll be pretty good! For women the skinnys and hotpants stood out (colours include classic indigo all the way to bright green, copper and gold!). The pockets will be lined in squiggle print, and will also feature at the hems so turns ups will be in order! For guys there will be drop-crotch, banana cuts, bondage 'inspired' jeans, these aren't as good as i was expecting though...no zips down the back! Pricing is really honest, there'll be tees and accessories, i.e keyrings. It will be hitting stores soon (potentially this/next month). I'll try and get permission to post some photos up as there aren't online yet. I could be running an exclusive..! x

The socks are from this past season which is coming to an end...quite excited for new collections to appear! These are going to be the last few posts of me with blonde hair, I'm going back to my natural colour (whatever that is, im not sure exactly, some shade of brunette!)

This bag is Jeremy Scott x Longchamp. From the Flinstones Collection last summer. The Supreme hat is Rorys, was a christmas prezzie from my sister.

_Jewellery Presentation

Yesterday I got up dark and early to go to London for a Westwood Jewellery Presentation to staff. As you can see from the photo its for AW10. Theres some really gorgeous pieces and there are lots of new styles. Although the company likes to use old classics and recycle them, this season encorporates lots of new ideas and variations on some old. One piece that stood out to me was a necklace with plastic skulls ranging from a large centre one and then a gradient of smaller ones going up the necklace. Really nice and lots of ornate skulls. Obviously I can't show you photos of the collection as thats a surprise for next season. But afterwards I popped to Marc by Marc on Mount St and picked up these key rings, one was a prez for Rory but liked them so much I got one for me too!! Everytime you grab your keys from your bag you feel like your on holiday, what a good idea!!! Rly well designed, but a bit unpractical as they are very heavy!!

As I look outside my window there's constantly 6 inches of snow, and its still snowing!! Its so beautiful outside,I feel as if its still christmas!! And apparently its going to be like this for another 6 weeks! I was just watching the Rodarte ss10 video and wanted to express my love for it. The american indian/tribal theme is weaved so well into the clothes.It is such a powerful collection. I would love to own a peice, the fact that they are all hand made, home spun by Rodarte makes them so special. They seem so in touch with nature. The shoulders on the second two models are very strong and authoritative with soft, light material placed next to them which creates a contradicting feeling. Just love this collection and am really looking forward to AW which isn't too far away now!

Its a squiggle cabinet!I used the Vivienne Westwood x Cole and Son wallpaper to upholster it. Am going to take another photo to see what its like without the wrapping on!

I came home after work last night and got straight on it. On my sewing machine that is! After bringing it from home it has been sleeping in the cubourd downstairs, so finally I got it out, and made my two best girlies their christmas prezzies. I went to Leeds market to get some materials. And now Im gona be sewing non-stop!No-ones gona be able to stop me!!:)

These are photos from Self Service AW 09 Its the Juergen Teller issue. I love this second photo, the bedroom looks lush, with all the bookshelves surrounding the bed. The photo is taken by Maciek Kobielski of the designer Vika Gazinskaya.I like the jumper the model in the first photo is wearing its by Herbie Mensah. I researched what Herbie Mensah was, and found out 'Mensah' is a vintage shop on Portobello Road that stocks vintage clothes by labels such as Biba, Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Mary Quant and Ossie Clark. Seeing as I used to go to school on Pembridge road I'm surprised I haven't heard of it, must check it out!

Finally walked all the way along the strand in the freezing cold to the 'Poplife' Exhibition on at the Tate! And it was well worth the freezing fingers and toes!! I feel so cheeky putting up all the phots from exhibitions where photos are prohimited!!!Oh well!Free advertising for the Tate!
